New York

Catweazle New York came about after two very talented musicians from the Big Apple spent time studying in Oxford. But it was only after they returned to the US that Cal Folger Day and Chris Topher Faroe actually met!

This came about after both had separately discussed with Catweazle head honcho Matt Sage the possibility of opening a New York branch. Launching on April Fools Day 2010, Chris and Cal – both gifted players and East Village scenesters – now co-host the event fortnightly at Tribes Gallery in the Lower East Side, always inviting esteemed and amazing guests to play extended sets, in addition to the plethora of spotlight poets and musicians also on the bill.

The ethos and the layout are identical to London and Oxford Catweazles. First come, first served performance slots, and a beautiful, sumptuous listening space for players and public alike…
